Cook Job Summary
Temporary position with opportunity to become permanent position. 8 - 12 weeks, may extend longer. Great team. Full-time; on both day and afternoon shift. Must be able to do both shifts (5am - 1pm or 11am - 7:30pm depending on the schedule it could vary what days you are on morning shift and what days you are on evening shift). Betsy Ross Nursing & Rehab Center is a 120-bed facility offering excellence in rehabilitation and skilled nursing care in a lovely homelike environment undergoing an exciting large-scale renovation under new management and administration! With a focus on rehabilitation and recovery, our skilled team of therapists and healthcare professionals assist residents in achieving optimal health and well-being. Our mission is to provide high quality care to all with respect and compassion through a team approach that focuses on personalized goals. The cook is responsible for preparation/cooking of foods and to provide our residents with all of their meals and/or snacks in a sanitary and safe manner adhering to all policies and procedures of the facility while focusing on customer service and satisfaction. Cook provides our residents with all of their meals in a sanitary and safe manner adhering to all policies and procedures of the facility and New York State Department of Health codes while focusing on customer service and satisfaction. Cook uses proper dining room service for the residents and/or family members. Proper "in kitchen" preparation and cleaning in regard to the station assigned to you. Perform other related duties as required and assigned. Prepare all foods adhering to all NY State codes and regulations for sanitation, storage and temperature. Requirements: Minimum high school diploma (or equivalent). A minimum of two years experience and training in food preparation in a health care facility or related food service operation. At least 1 year experience as a cook in a health care setting desired. Completion of an approved sanitation course or equivalent preferred. Must have a full knowledge of all sanitary codes and all menu production methods. Excellent communication and organization skills. Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible.
