Oshkosh Corporation
Senior Autonomy Engineer
Pratt Miller, an Oshkosh company, is a product development company in motorsports, defense, and mobility industries providing clients with product engineering and low-volume production solutions. Our range of research & development, engineering, prototype manufacturing, test & validation, and low-rate production capability help our customers bring their high-quality products to market faster. The Senior Autonomy Engineer will have expertise in localization to help develop advanced technologies for autonomous and automated platforms. As part of a small, fast-paced autonomy team, this position will lead the development of localization algorithms while also contributing across the autonomy stack when needed. Responsibilities: Design, implement, and test cutting-edge algorithms for robust vehicle localization. Develop solutions to accurately estimate vehicle pose using data from GNSS, IMU, wheel odometry, etc. Validate and verify localization and mapping methods using prototype autonomous platforms Contribute across the autonomy stack, supporting tasks outside your core domain when needed Collaborate with teammates across disciplines. Qualifications: Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., robotics, computer science, electrical engineering):
Applied research experience in localization, perception, or autonomy. No industry experience required if research is directly relevant. Master's degree with 5+ years of experience:
Practical, hands-on experience in localization systems, sensor fusion, and autonomy software. Proficiency in C++ and Python is essential. Bachelor's degree with 78+ years of experience:
Demonstrated contributions to localization, perception, or autonomy projects. Deep practical knowledge of multi-sensor integration and real-world validation. Preferred skills: Expertise in localization techniques, such as Kalman filters or particle filters Experience with multi model localization (e.g., GNSS + IMU + wheel odometry integration) Proficient with ROS2, Linux, C++, Python, and tools like OpenCV, PCL, and robot localization Prior work on real-world autonomous deployments. Additional details: Primarily MondayFriday daytime work schedule; occasional nights/weekends for milestone delivery or testing events. Light physical activity may be required during on-vehicle testing. Occasional travel may be needed for customer site visits or test events.
