Senior Financial Counselor Representative (VHH)
The Senior Financial Counselor Representative (VHH) provides daily leadership support, including monitoring work quality, assisting with workflow questions, and assisting management with department schedule and coverage as needed in assigned area(s). Possess comprehensive knowledge of EMTALA regulations, Emergency Room (ER) registration workflows, and Hospital Presumptive Eligibility programs. This role requires close collaboration with ER staff to facilitate timely and accurate financial clearance for patients admitted through the emergency department, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines, and supporting optimal patient care delivery. Minimum Education: High School or equivalent Minimum Experience: 5 years Combined knowledge in Insurance Verification, Authorization submission and Financial Counseling experience. Minimum Skills: Thorough knowledge in patient accounts, admission and insurances. Demonstrates leadership. Knowledgeable in Managed Care Payors, Medicare, MediCal and Letters of Agreement. Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, read and write English proficiently. Knowledge of EMTALA and hospital billing and collection process. Knowledge of third-party payer relationships as well as relevant state and federal health programs. Ability to multi-task with excellent organization skills required. Required Certifications: AB508 (Management of Assaultive Behavior) Must be obtained within 30 days of hire. USC is an equal opportunity employer.
