Materials Specialist I
This position will provide analytical and operating support for all LG shipping responsibilities. Facilitate all shipping requirements and provide a smooth flow of materials into the facility, and from the facility to its endpoint. This will include initiating the quote process with carriers, analyzing freight carrier capabilities, and providing carrier recommendations based on ability to meet customer requirements. It will require preparing, organizing and maintaining shipping documents; creating and updating schedules; creating and updating records; documenting, gathering and analyzing shipping data; communication with internal and external customers, freight carriers, and LG team members. Responsibilities: Determine most efficient means of shipping, considering urgency of delivery, carrier's ability to meet or exceed time requirements, cost, etc. Prepare, adjust, and communicate inbound schedules to align with warehouse delivery schedules Work with freight carriers to schedule pickup of outbound shipments Prepare documentation for domestic and international shipments and schedule with freight forwarders Perform inbound load planning to prevent dock capacity issues and delays Support plans with Materials team, coordinate dates and times with carriers, and communicate changes Follow shipping instructions from the customer's freight forwarder, as noted on Sales Order Work closely with customers to understand their shipping requirements Ensure labels, packing lists, shipping tags, commercial invoices, certificates of Origin, customs certificates and bills of lading are prepared in advance of shipments Support maintenance of records for all outbound shipments and analyze shipping data Submit detailed shipping reports to other departments/managers as required Track and trouble-shoot shipment deliveries and problems, and provide delivery confirmations when complete Support with identifying areas for improvements in all shipping/receiving functions Provide timely resolution to inquiries and complaints Demonstrate understanding of hazardous material shipping requirements Assist in development of Shipping/Receiving processes and procedures Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field, or equivalent, relevant experience Experience: 1 to 3+ years of related experience Manufacturing experience preferred Skills: Knowledge of general freight forwarding terms and standards and Incoterms Excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to interface in a professional manner with vendors and service providers Professional/Positive attitude Well organized with excellent attention to detail Ability to multitask on several projects at the same time
