Clinical Child Psychologist

The West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Behavioral Medicine are seeking several Clinical Child Psychologists (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidates will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV. Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the area of Child Psychology, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of Developmental Disabilities and Neurodevelopmental Disorders. The position will include clinical, teaching/supervision, and research responsibilities. Qualifications: Candidate must have a PhD or PsyD degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for a state medical license. Applicants must have a PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology from an APA/CPA-accredited graduate program with an APA/CPA-approved internship and post-doctoral training in neurodevelopmental disabilities. Applicant must be immediately eligible for licensure in West Virginia. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment. Candidates must demonstrate strong awareness of and adherence to evidence-based strategies for the evaluation and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders. The psychologist will primarily work in an interdisciplinary team to evaluate and treat patients, ages 0-15, who are served at the WVU Medicine Children's Neurodevelopmental Center. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the psychologist will also be actively involved in the teaching of medical students and residents, and psychology graduate students and fellows. The candidate will be involved in our well-known, training-focused APA-accredited clinical psychology internship in our Clinical Child Track, and may be involved in training for our Neurodevelopmental/Pediatric Neuropsychology Fellowship. There are a variety of opportunities for involvement with interdisciplinary clinics across the hospital system as well as involvement in outreach and training for families and statewide providers. Research opportunities within the NDC are also plentiful. Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia, as services are expected to expand. In such instances, travel would be anticipated, and expected, to fulfill said duties at these additional sites. Responsibilities Include: Conducting psychoeducational and other assessments as part of a highly collaborative interdisciplinary clinical team Authoring comprehensive reports Collaborating with colleagues across disciplines to communicate evaluation findings to guide treatment Involvement with our well-known, training-focused APA-accredited clinical psychology internship and our Neurodevelopmental/Pediatric Neuropsychology fellowship Successful applicants should meet the following qualifications: PhD or PsyD in psychology/school psychology/neuropsychology or related field Licensed or Eligible for Licensure in West Virginia and through PsyPact Experience conducting psychoeducational assessments Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills Strong work ethic Highest professional and ethical standards Valued attributes: Familiarity with a broad range of assessment tools Experience in the diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) Experience with managing challenging behaviors Strong interest in neuroscience Comfortable working on multidisciplinary teams A commitment to teamwork, collaboration, and camaraderie Creativity, flexibility, and sense of humor The WVU Children's Neurodevelopmental Center (NDC) is a multi-disciplinary center located approximately 15 minutes from Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV, that offers outpatient treatment for children who have been diagnosed with or are suspected of having neurodevelopmental disabilities. The clinic houses three service lines. The Child Development Clinic is comprised of medical providers (Neurologists, Nurse Practitioners), pediatric psychologists, and neuropsychologists. The Pediatric Rehabilitation Clinic houses speech, occupational, and physical therapy services. The third branch is the Intensive Applied Behavior Analysis Clinic, which services young patients with Autism. Each of the three service lines houses robust training programs with a variety of learners from various disciplines, as well as outreach programming for the community and statewide providers. Under the leadership of Children's Neurosciences, the NDC seeks to expand services and consultation across the hospital system and welcomes innovative, collaborative providers to join the growing team. Within the Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry, there is a strong collaborative focus on clinical service, teaching, and scholarship among psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers.
