The person hired for the position of Production Operator will work at our Decatur, AL location. Here, you will make an impact by: Observing all safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe work area Applying quality instructions and specifications Monitoring the production or packing operation to ensure quality objectives are met Loading/unloading material into and from equipment Working as a team member through sharing information, problem solving and assisting others Understanding and following all safety policies and procedures Following process standards to ensure quality products are produced Performing data entry and recording required tests and adjusting processes as necessary to meet quality specifications Maintaining excellent housekeeping Handling hazardous waste material in accordance with federal and state regulations To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution Ability to work a 12-hour day and night rotating shift (approximately 6:00 AM

6:00 AM) Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: Minimum one (1) year of plant and/or manufacturing experience in a public, private, government, or military environment Post-high school education Experience with control charting, material handling, packaging, chemical manufacturing, and hazardous waste management Experience working with computers in a manufacturing setting Attention to detail, prioritization, self-motivation, teamwork, problem solving, analytical thinking, effective communication skills, strong work ethic, initiative, and a focus on safety Perform work requiring general knowledge of production principles where productive process depends on an ability to detect and correct the defect. Basic understanding of Lean principles Must recognize any non?standard conditions and/or raw materials and know when to take the necessary action or seek advice; Must use judgement to perform semi-repetitive job involving some variety of detail or responsibility where actions to be taken and decisions to be made are limited Operate PLC or DCS controls, hand tools, various powered trucks, valves, and some test equipment; set up and operate equipment where moderate adjustment is required Close attention to detail, such as process conditions, is required at all times to avoid costly rework, production delays, safety incidents or scrap; continuously monitor equipment, process and product quality; ability to operate in an environment where complex machine operations happen simultaneously; ability to plan ahead in the process and production schedule to complete tasks in a timely fashion; execute proper in?process tests Candidates must successfully complete 3M Manufacturing Employee Selection Process (MESP) testing. Work location: Decatur, AL. Travel: None. Relocation Assistance: None. Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status). The starting pay for this position is $25.74/hr, increasing to $33.97/hr after four months, with the potential to reach $41.64/hr. This targeted compensation range represents a good faith estimate and can vary based on factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
