As a Regional Credit Approval Officer, you will be responsible for assessing and managing the credit risk of commercial real estate lending transactions, working closely and collaboratively with Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, and all other stakeholders to ensure that credit decisions comply with bank policies, procedures, our Risk Appetite Statements and applicable industry rules and regulations. Responsibilities Serve as a trusted advisor to the Eastern Commercial Real Estate market(s) to which you are assigned. Use professional experience and expertise to prudently evaluate creditworthiness of borrowers and assess collateral/credit adequacy at all stages of a loan from initial review and consideration to approval to on-going administration. Provide constructive and proactive feedback and recommendations to the supported Commercial Real Estate teams to improve transaction structuring, analysis, and administration to mitigate risk and improve credit quality. Develop and maintain strong knowledge of the assigned loan portfolios and conduct periodic portfolio reviews to identify potential risks, ensure accurate risk rating, and ensure compliance with loan covenants. Immediately elevate concerns and deteriorating credits to the assigned Senior Credit Approval Officer. Become an expert on applicable bank policies and procedures, proactively recommending suitable enhancements and revisions. Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's or advanced degree, or equivalent work experience - Typically more than 15 years of applicable experience. Preferred Skills/Experience Bachelor's or advanced degree in business, finance, real estate, accounting or related field. Typically 15+ years commercial real estate lending experience, ideally at a regional, super-regional, or money-center bank; prior credit approval experience desired. Strong knowledge of commercial real estate product types and market trends. Prior experience with institutional clients, commercial real estate capital markets, complex structures and non-recourse lending is preferred. Refined experience with financial analysis and credit risk assessment. Must be willing to take a leadership role, clearly articulate opinions, and participate in the development of junior team members within the platform. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Desire to grow and potentially work on multiple portfolios simultaneously. Willingness to travel to conduct property inspections and meet with customers and prospects. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office applications. The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.
