Medical Assistant/Patient Support Associate, Neuroscience Position Highlights: Position: Medical Assistant/Patient Support Associate Location: Arlington Heights, IL. Full Time: 40 hours/week Hours: Hours vary

5pm) What you will do: Provide skilled front office and clinical support to the physician practice and serve as a liaison between the physician and patient to coordinate care. When required, provides direct patient care by working collaboratively with the care team. Functions as a member of the patient's ambulatory care team while delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring patient safety, privacy and loyalty. Provide healthcare services under the direction of the Practice Manager and/or designee, and physicians in the NCH Medical Group. Document accurately in the EMR and adhere to patient confidentiality standards Obtain/verify medical history, medications, allergies, reason for visit, etc. Accurate collection and documentation of vital signs with special attention to the geriatric, neonatal and pediatric patients; prepare patients for physician visit Utilize the standardized rooming patient protocol in EPIC to complete all required documentation fields including medical history, reason for visit, and questionnaires Explain NCH

activation Administer medications per physician orders Perform EKGs, spirometry testing, and other office performed tests per physician orders and by following documented competencies Distribute post-care direction(s) prepared by physician to patient Assist in procedures as needed including room set up, preparation and clean up Ensure supplies are maintained for each practitioner Assist with obtaining prior authorizations and pre-certifications as needed Abstract clinical information into Epic at the direction of the physician or practice manager Ensure the cleanliness of clinical and non-clinical areas such as patient rooms and laboratory Perform clinic inventory tracking, stocking, audit expiration dates of all patient care items Obtain medical records from non-NCH facilities Create and open orders per protocol or as directed by provider Answer all incoming telephone calls to the office and handle each as appropriate, in accordance with NorthShore telephone customer service standards Take accurate and complete messages according to protocols Follow-up on patient issues as appropriate Confirm/update & distribute call schedule; notify answering service, & internal on-call system, etc. Provide timely responses to NCH

or telephone What you will need: Education: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience required. Certification:
BLS/CPR Certification for the Healthcare Provider required Experience: Minimum 6 months experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
