Assistant Professor Position in Women's and Gender Studies

The Women's and Gender Studies Department in the Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts at Loyola Marymount University seeks candidates for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall semester 2026. We seek a scholar with expertise in critical race feminisms with an emphasis in one or more of the following fields: abolitionism, international political economy, and/or feminist approaches to law, rights, and policy. The applicant would be expected to teach introduction level courses in Women's and Gender Studies as well as upper division courses in the applicant's area of expertise. We are especially interested in candidates whose teaching and research can contribute to one or more of the department's affiliated interdisciplinary minors, particularly Disability Studies and LGBTQ Studies. We welcome teacher-scholars with doctoral degrees in Women's and Gender Studies, Ethnic Studies, or other cognate interdisciplinary fields; candidates with PhDs in other social science and humanities disciplines with designated emphases in the areas outlined above will also be considered. The PhD is required; however, ABD applicants who anticipate completion of the doctorate by Fall 2026 will also be considered. The Department places a high priority on diversity, social justice, and inclusive pedagogy in fostering academic excellence as highlighted by the Department's two new minors in disability studies and LGBTQ studies.
