We are seeking an experienced Plumbing & Fire Protection Superintendent to lead and manage the installation of plumbing, piping, and fire protection systems on large-scale data center construction projects. This role ensures that all work is completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest standards of quality and code compliance. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of plumbing and life safety systems in commercial or mission-critical environments and is skilled in field coordination and subcontractor oversight. Key Responsibilities: Direct the daily activities of subcontractors responsible for installing plumbing, sanitary, domestic water, storm drainage, and fire protection systems. Ensure compliance with design specifications, project documents, applicable codes (IPC, NFPA, local AHJ), and safety standards. Manage equipment placement, pipe routing, valve installation, fixture mounting, and fire suppression systems (wet, dry, pre-action). Verify that materials and equipment are installed per approved submittals and shop drawings. Schedule Management & Coordination: Develop and manage 3-week lookahead schedules for plumbing and fire protection scopes. Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and civil trades to ensure proper sequencing, avoid clashes, and support startup/commissioning. Identify schedule risks and work with project leadership to maintain milestone progress. Quality Control & Compliance: Conduct field inspections and QA/QC checks to verify correct installation, system integrity, labeling, and proper support. Ensure systems pass required inspections and pressure tests prior to concealment or turnover. Support documentation for commissioning, testing, and system signoff (e.g., hydrostatic testing, fire alarm tie-ins). Safety Leadership: Promote a strong jobsite safety culture in coordination with EHS staff. Enforce safety protocols related to hot work, confined space entry, fall protection, and system flushing/testing. Conduct daily toolbox talks and ensure subcontractor compliance with all project safety procedures. Documentation & Communication: Maintain daily reports on crew activities, progress, inspections, and safety issues. Collaborate with the field engineering and document control teams to manage RFIs, field changes, and as-built drawings. Participate in coordination and OAC meetings, communicating clearly with project managers and trade partners. Qualifications
Required Qualifications: 7+ years of field experience in plumbing and/or fire protection construction, with 3+ years in a supervisory or superintendent role. Strong knowledge of plumbing systems (domestic water, sanitary waste, storm drain) and fire suppression systems (sprinkler, standpipe, fire pumps). Experience on large commercial or mission-critical projects such as data centers, hospitals, labs or large industrial. Ability to read and interpret plumbing/fire drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and isometric diagrams. Familiarity with applicable codes and standards including IPC, UPC, NFPA 13, 14, 20, and local building regulations. Preferred Qualifications: Journeyman or Master Plumber license (state-specific). OSHA 30 certification or equivalent site safety training. Proficiency with field management platforms (e.g., Bluebeam, BIM 360). Knowledge of BIM coordination and clash detection principles. Personal Attributes: Field-driven, hands-on leader with a sharp eye for detail and code compliance. Excellent communicator capable of building strong relationships with trade partners and project staff. Organized, safety-conscious, and capable of managing fast-paced construction environments.
