Tukwila, WA A valve actuation technician is a professional specializing in the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of valves and their actuators, particularly in industrial settings. They work with various types of valves and actuators, including those powered by electricity, hydraulics, or pneumatics. Key Responsibilities: Maintenance and Repair:
Performing hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of valves and actuators, both in a workshop and on-site at customer facilities. Actuator Expertise:
Working with various types of actuators, including electric, hydraulic, and pneumatic, and understanding their specific functionalities. Technical Skills:
Utilizing tools and equipment for disassembly, inspection, cleaning, reassembly, and testing of valves and actuators. Quality Control:
Ensuring work and materials adhere to manufacturer specifications and completing required documentation. Problem Solving:
Identifying and resolving issues related to valve and actuator performance, including potential failure assessments. Customer Interaction:
Communicating with customer plant personnel to assess needs and provide solutions. Safety Compliance:
Adhering to safety regulations and procedures, including those related to hazardous materials and confined spaces. Machining:
Depending on the role, may include machining materials and parts for valve and actuator repair. Where They Work: Industrial Facilities:
Valve actuation technicians work in a variety of industrial settings, such as power generation plants, refineries, chemical plants, and water/wastewater treatment facilities. Specialized Service Centers:
They may also work at dedicated service centers where they perform repairs and maintenance on valves and actuators. On-site Services:
Many technicians also provide on-site services, traveling to customer locations to address issues and perform maintenance. Education and Training: Technical Degree or Certification:
Many positions require a technical degree or certification in a related field, such as mechanical or electrical technology. Hands-on Experience:
Significant on-the-job training and experience are often necessary to develop the necessary skills and knowledge. Specific Training:
