We advance science so that we all have more time with the people we love. Roche Diagnostics acquired Stratos Genomics (SBX Nanopore Sequencing) in 2020 for its novel Sequencing by eXpansion (SBX) technology. SBX uses unique applications from chemistry, biochemistry, electrochemistry, and protein engineering to sequence DNA by nanopore in rapid time with high accuracy and low cost. The Biochemistry SBX team is passionate and dedicated to our SBX technology and the impact high throughput, low-cost DNA sequencing will have on patient outcomes. We are looking for individuals who share this passion and are excited to join a dynamic, cross-functional and collaborative group. This is a salaried laboratory position with hours dependent on lab needs and project deadlines. The successful candidate will be self-driven and highly motivated to quickly learn new skills and techniques in order to help advance rapidly evolving projects. The Opportunity Assists with state of the art reagent formulation and optimization With guidance, execute and evolve assays to improve Xpandomer synthesis workflows Analyze and brainstorm alternative approaches to solve problems and find solutions. Suggest ways to improve workflow efficiency. Inventory, prepare and maintain critical reagents and consumables involved in Xpandomer production Assist in maintaining laboratory organization and cleanliness Assist in regular maintenance of laboratory equipment Assume accountability for electronic lab notebook documentation, ensuring protocols and results are recorded timely, accurately, consistently, and according to established formats Communicate effectively with manager on project status, data analysis findings, and process deviations Support management decisions and goals in a positive, professional manner. Embrace priorities and responsibilities set forth by management Who You Are B.S. in Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physical Sciences or related field You have a minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience in the biotech industry or a research laboratory You are comfortable with basic laboratory techniques (e.g., pipetting, sterile technique, solution preparation, etc.) You have experience with preparing reagent solutions (ie. buffers, chemical stock solutions) You have experience with standard molecular biology techniques Preferred Qualifications You have experience working with glove boxes, rotary evaporators, and/or lyophilizers You have experience with commercial DNA sequencing kits and platforms You have experience with Certificates of Analysis and/or QA Metrics You have experience with microfluidics You have prior wet lab experience The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Washington State is $57,000-105,800. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
