Advanced Practice Professional (APP) Opportunity

The Advanced Practice Professional (APP) has coordination and clinical skills required for the comprehensive management of hospitalized patients. The APP coordinates involvement of medical/surgical specialty teams necessary to develop a comprehensive plan for the patient and reviews the plan of care with the other members of the clinical team, participates in directing that care, performs diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, peri-operative services, and coordinates ambulatory management and/or discharge planning/follow-up (as applicable). The APP participates in the education of residents and medical/nursing students. Provide healthcare services consistent with state law and the requirements of the professional licensing or certification authority and/or hospital privileges, where applicable. Minimum Qualifications for Nurse Practitioner:

Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master's Degree in Nursing. National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers. Licensure or eligibility for licensure, as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia. American Heart Association BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the department. Experience:

Acute care or hospitalist experience preferred. Eligible new graduates will be considered. Preferred Qualifications:

ACNP or AGACNP preferred, but FNPs will be considered. Minimum Qualifications for Physician Assistant:

Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree as a Medical/Surgical (as applicable) Physician Assistant required. Graduate of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant (PA) training program required. Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants required. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the WV Board of Medicine or WV Board of Osteopathic Medicine. American Heart Association BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the department. Experience:

Acute care or hospitalist experience preferred. Eligible new graduates will be considered. Preferred Qualifications:

Masters level education as Medical/Surgical (as applicable) Physician Assistant preferred. Core duties and responsibilities include managing comprehensive and individualized care for hospitalized patients, completing daily rounds, performing integrated assessments, ordering additional tests or consults, performing and communicating results of diagnostic tests, facilitating patient discharge, developing a comprehensive individualized plan of care, demonstrating expertise in caring for patients across the age continuum, recognizing emergency situations, evaluating general medicine patients, assisting in the collection of outcome measures, demonstrating critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning skills, utilizing equipment in a safe manner, basing decisions on relevant scientific principles, utilizing teaching/learning theory, promoting an environment that facilitates learning, updating own knowledge base, completing all identified clinical competencies, serving as a resource person, providing educational programs, participating in community programs, documenting the plan of care, collaborating with other leaders and staff, providing leadership, working collaboratively with medical and nursing staff, participating and initiating inter-disciplinary approaches, promoting and practicing innovation, participating and providing leadership for committees and task forces, documenting hours and submitting billing reports, reviewing and interpreting cardiology data, participating in clinical trials and research studies, and assisting Hospitalist Faculty, Administrators and Directors in the collection of outcome measures. Physical Requirements:

Heavy/Hard Work: Work requires strength and/or stamina, lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, positioning of patients, standing, walking, and carrying of patients, materials and equipment weighting 40+ pounds. Working Environment:

Working closely with others. Protracted or irregular hours. Working around biohazards. Working around infectious diseases. Working with or near the deceased. Working with hands in water. Electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment. Skills and Abilities:
