Behavioral Intervention Specialist
CP Unlimited is seeking a Behavioral Intervention Specialist to assure the mental health and behavioral needs of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities that are attending our program are met. The Behavioral Intervention Specialist is responsible for the functional behavioral assessments and behavior support plans. Key Responsibilities Developing functional behavioral assessments and support plans using baseline data and ongoing proactive and reactive data. Providing individual and group counseling. Presenting psychotropic medications and restrictive behavior support plans to the Human Rights Committee. Training multi-level staff in the implementation and monitoring of behavior support plans. Providing referrals for psychiatric care, psychological evaluations and counseling services. Act as a liaison for mental health services/behavioral problems between and among IDT members, clinics, psychiatrists, hospitals, day programs, and families. Maintaining current certification and becoming a certified trainer in SCIP or PROMOTE. Requirements Master's degree in a clinical and/or treatment field of psychology and documented training in assessment techniques and behavior support development. At least five years experience working directly with MRDD individuals (BCBA certification a plus). Ability to travel and access multiple locations throughout the Hudson Valley and the ability to work flexible hours to include possible overnight and weekends. Ability to provide on-call behavioral service coverage via cell phone.
