Mech III Assembly - Jumbo - 2nd Shift

The Mechanic III is a member of the assembly team and is responsible for following standard work to assemble a wide variety of mechanical units in a safe manner. The Mechanic III works as a member of the larger plant assembly team and may flex to any of the departments or work stations as volume dictates. The purpose for every position at BAC regardless of department or level can be summed up as doing the right thing in the right way. Principal responsibilities include: utilizing standard work to assemble mechanical support assemblies in a safe and quality conscious manner eliminating risk of damage; meeting daily production goals as assigned; safely operating JIB cranes to lift, move, and position components; assisting with the replenishment and organization of the work area; building and fabricating units according to blueprints and shop drawings; actively learning all skills necessary to become a world class mechanic; following all safety requirements regarding tools and PPE; maintaining and sustaining 5's in the department; actively acquiring skills and ability to support the highest quality standards; flexing to other areas as needed demonstrating teamwork and a commitment to team success; and performing all other tasks as directed by the supervisor. Knowledge and skills required include: competent in math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractional computations, and fraction to decimal conversions; ability to use hand held measuring tools including tape measure, micrometer, and protractor; competent in reading blueprints and reference drawings; working command of the English language, both written and spoken; safely using drills, nail guns, impact wrench and other small power tools as required; knowing how to correctly fill out In Process Inspections and any other paperwork as required; demonstrated ability to operate JIB cranes; ability to safely operate material handling equipment including pallet jacks, lift trucks and jib cranes as required; knowledge of all safety requirements and adherence to safety standards. Working conditions include: standing and walking up to 80% of the time; bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, sitting, and reaching on a regular basis; frequent lifting up to 50 pounds; exposure to elevated noise levels, fluctuations in temperature, and intermittent exposure to the weather in and about the yard and dock areas; working hours can include any of three shifts and generally are scheduled for forty hours a week with some weekend overtime expected.
