Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital (GJSH) is seeking a dedicated professional for the role of Environmental Services (EVS) leader. This position is for the evening shift, working 40 hours per week, and is classified as a regular, non-exempt employee. Job Summary: Provides leadership within the Environmental Services department, ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation regulations. Responsible for a variety of environmental services duties, follows special healthcare cleaning techniques, and trains staff as needed. Ensures a professional and appropriate service standard while performing the job. Follows system-wide standards as well as department-specific service standards. Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family/customer experience by optimizing all customer interactions. Fosters a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to service standards. Job Duties: Schedules breaks and lunches daily for all assigned staff. Utilizes the staff schedule to plan for sufficient daily staffing. Coordinates with the Supervisor and/or Manager and Director as necessary. Coordinates communication between shifts to ensure continuity of service. Assists with the development of all performance improvement plans for staff directly under them in discipline. Assures timely and effective response to all department requests and requirements. Mentors and empowers employees by delegating responsibilities, assisting employees with work performance issues, and promoting a teamwork environment. Uses wireless technology to monitor bed tracking status in designated patient departments and areas. Responsible for inventory management of EVS supplies. Maintains all work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Observes and promotes fire prevention and safety practices. Follows all infection control policies. Monitors daily sign-in sheet and adjusts the assignments for call-offs, census, and other factors accordingly. Oversees the work performance of Environmental Services personnel. Assures all assigned areas are clean, safe, and orderly. Provides input to Supervisor on performance evaluations of assigned personnel in the presence of an Environmental Services Supervisor. Rearranges work assignments for all shifts as necessary. Conducts Quality Improvement inspections of assigned areas routinely. All EVS Staff who enter Medication Rooms (Where Applicable) must receive mandatory education on proper Medication Room protocol. Position Details: New hires are eligible for a bonus up to $2,500! Hours are 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm + weekend and holiday rotation. Eligible for evening shift differential. Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) - (Preferred) Experience: Minimum of 3 years-Related work experience (Required) Certification(s) and License(s): Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) within 18 months - Association for the Healthcare Environment Skills: Communication, Disease Management, Healthcare Regulatory Environment, Infection Control, Leads Others, Spill Management, Teamwork Our Purpose & Values: Kindness: We strive to treat everyone as we would hope to be treated ourselves.
