International Compliance Specialist

The International Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all Arhaus' imports & exports comply with all International, Federal, State & local regulations/policies impacting cross-border movements. This role is responsible for supporting Arhaus' Compliance team including Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification, Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), US Customs' & Border Protection (CBP) & partner Governmental agencies (PGAs) regulations, interacting with internal/external partners and trouble-shooting to ensure effective & efficient direct import/export processes. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Assists in reviewing daily entries to ensure entry accuracy, review CBP/broker statements & accrue duties/taxes/entry fees to applicable systems. Perform monthly entry audits for accuracy of HTS, value, quantity, COO, ADD, FTA, record keeping documentation; recommend any brokerage/internal process improvements. Analyze and validate import documentation and data to ensure they are in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations prior to entry submission to U.S Customs Communicate with internal/external partners/vendors, Customs' broker, freight forwarders and other parties to ensure timely and effective problem resolution and go-forward action plans. Drive process and vendor improvements through data, accountability, and leadership. Reads and understands job aids/work instructions and/or follows oral instructions to execute the overall objectives. Complete daily record keeping tasks supporting both US Regulations and internal Arhaus company policy. Insure timely and accurate submission of Importer Security Filings (ISF's) to Customs for all ocean shipments systems Responsible for interpreting & applying classification/compliance principles (HTS GRIs/notes, Customs' rulings, etc.) to assign correct HTS number & determine any applicable corresponding CBP or PGA data- including but not limited to: Country of origin (COO), valuation, anti-dumping duties (ADD), FTAs, Lacey Act, Fish & Wildlife, Food & Drug Administration. Updating corresponding systems accordingly to ensure smooth direct import/export process for internal/external partners. Other duties as assigned. Key fundamental skill sets for this role will be: Knowledge of U.S. Customs programs (E.g. Customs and Trade Partnership Against Terrorism, Importer Self-Assessment, Reconciliation Program, etc.) Strong understanding of CBP & PGA regulations Requirements: 1+ years of import compliance or international logistics experience Strong understanding of CBP & PGA regulations Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred Strong PC skills, including MS Office Outlook, Excel, Word Must have strong organizational skills and be able to balance various tasks/projects Must have strong verbal and written communication skills; fluent or proficient in English Must have strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize, analytical and problem-solving skills Willingness to expand on knowledge and application of HTS classification; preferably in home furnishing Must have a high level of ethics, integrity, judgment, and confidentiality Arhaus is an Equal Opportunity Employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind.
