Overnight Substance Abuse Counselor - Adolescent Residential
The Overnight Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for overseeing the health and welfare of all residents in the program. Qualifications include: one year of experience working with clients with substance abuse disorders, one year of experience working with adolescents with co-occurring and mental health problems, and a plus for one year of experience working in an OASAS funded facility. Commitment to providing quality services and outcome driven performance measures is also required. Excellent organizational management skills with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance clinicians, set and achieve program objectives are necessary. Strong networking and public relations skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders, populations, and cultures are also needed. An action-oriented, adaptable, and innovative approach to program planning is required. Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people is essential. Standard criteria include interacting with staff, clients, students, and visitors in a courteous, professional, and respectful manner that is consistent with the agency's mission and values. Producing accurate, neat, and thorough work, prioritizing and planning work time efficiently, effectively managing competing demands and dealing with changes, delays and unexpected events, understanding and consistently complying with agency policy and procedures, supporting a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that allows the employee to get along with clients, students, coworkers, and supervisors, communicating clearly and concisely, illustrating flexibility and adaptability in role and function when circumstances warrant, and maintaining appropriate boundaries, ethics, and professionalism are also required. Position Status This is a part-time non-exempt position. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment and outside in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This is an awake overnight position.
