The Ohio Attorney General's Office is currently seeking an experienced individual for an OHLEG Support Specialist vacancy in the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) Section, London Ohio office. This position will report to the London location daily. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation, known as BCI, is the state's official crime lab serving the criminal justice community and protecting Ohio families. BCI also provides expert criminal investigative services to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies upon request. With offices throughout the state, BCI stands ready to respond 24/7 to local law enforcement agencies' needs at no cost to the requesting agency. Staff at BCI work every day to provide the highest level of service. This includes special agents who are on call 24/7 to offer investigative assistance at crime scenes, knowledgeable scientists and forensic specialists using cutting-edge technology to process evidence to bring criminals to justice, and criminal intelligence analysts and identification specialists who help local law enforcement solve cases. Experienced special agents, forensic scientists, and other law enforcement experts' staff BCI's three main divisions: 1) Identifications 2) Investigations and 3) Laboratory. The successful candidate will provide technical support to the state's law enforcement community regarding access to the Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway (OHLEG). These and other important duties include: Handle incoming crime tips and communicate with BCI Special Agents, LEADS, and law enforcement on unique needs and challenges. Assist Sheriffs' Offices with registries. Receiving and prioritizing calls based on urgency and importance. Process requests for access to the Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway (OHLEG). Enter data into computer system for record keeping. Perform inquiries and criminal history checks for multiple law enforcement staff through NCIC. Provide information, instructions, and assistance to the public within scope of authority. Verify and issue Missing Adult Alerts as necessary. Maintain daily log of calls and tasks performed. Offer support and information to the public in accordance with BCI policies and procedures. Respond to calls on the Human Trafficking Hotline. Multitasking Take on additional tasks as assigned.
