SCADA Instrumentation Technician I
Position Summary: The SCADA Instrumentation Technician I will be responsible for maintaining, supporting and expanding PVSC's Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system and communication and automation devices to ensure efficient operations, accurate data reporting and reliable data transfer. Will also be responsible for communication effectiveness, automation system integration, communication hardware upgrades and production automation hardware repairs and upgrades. Minimum Requirements: Must be able to apply technical skills to undertake system PLC/HMI programming and commissioning for a number of control systems utilizing Rockwell, Allen Bradley and Wonderware PLC's and HMI platforms. Must have a solid working knowledge of SCADA, field automation, measurements, instrumentation and field communications. Must be able to program, install, troubleshoot and perform field repairs to the SCADA system. Must be able to work with and provide guidance to SCADA technicians, instrumentation technicians, and electricians, as well as provide recommendations on designs, assist in the commissioning of SCADA and electrical systems, and maintain documentation regarding wiring, software and hardware changes. Must have knowledge of the occupational and safety hazards and precautions involved in performing SCADA system work. Must be able to read and interpret wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and specifications needed for making installations and performing major repair work. Must have experience diagnosing wastewater treatment plant supervisory control issues. Must have solid computer skills (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and be available for emergencies and job assignments on a 24-hour basis. Experience: Minimum of six (6) years of experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of SCADA, instrumentation, control devices and electrical systems, of which at least five (5) years have been in general maintenance associated with either a wastewater treatment facility or modern continuous industrial process. Minimum of three (3) years of experience installing and configuring RS Logics and Allen-Bradley PLC's, and two (2) years of experience with SCADA system Wonderware. Licenses and/or Certifications: Must have a valid New Jersey driver's license and OSHA certifications. Education: High School or Vocational School Diploma is required. Additional education certifications and licenses are preferred. Physical Demands: Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation to ensure the health and safety of oneself and others are maintained. Must qualify for and possess the ability to perform entry into confined spaces while wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as, but not limited to, canister and dust masks as well as SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus). Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, legs and the whole body such as climbing (including ladders), lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, walking, stooping and handling heavy objects. Working Conditions: Workers are employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system and will be required to work indoors and outdoors.
