As an Area Health & Safety (H&S) Manager, you will be a key member of our collaborative Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) West Region team, supporting projects and offices within the Buildings & Infrastructure Business Group. Reporting to the Northwest Geography HSE Manager, your primary responsibilities will be within Northwest (Hawaii, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, & North Dakota), though you will also be expected to support broader regional efforts as needed. You will oversee H&S initiatives and governance for offices and projects across various market sectors including water, transportation, healthcare, education and aviation while driving strategic efforts within the West Region HSE Team. Responsibilities Demonstrating visible Health & Safety leadership by: Establishing strong working relationships with your operations partners. Working closely with project managers and operations teams to integrate H&S practices into business objectives. Providing technical reviews of project and office H&S planning documentation to ensure conformance with internal procedures and compliance with applicable regulations. Staying updated on Federal OSHA regulatory requirements. Providing governance oversight to ensure alignment and consistent implementation of project and office H&S requirements. Conducting periodic site audits, risk assessments, and inspections to identify hazards and implement corrective actions. Writing reports and communications to disseminate H&S guidance and best practices. Leading investigations into workplace incidents, documenting findings, and recommending preventive measures to minimize future occurrences. Developing and delivering H&S training. Assisting in the development of emergency response plans and drills to ensure teams are prepared for potential workplace emergencies. Performing subcontractor H&S prequalification reviews to ensure alignment with company safety standards. Presenting H&S information in operational meetings, office town halls, and project pre-mobilization meetings. Proactively identifying and raising health, safety, security and environmental observations while promoting engagement in the BeyondZero observation reporting process, fostering a culture of caring. Utilizing safety data and metrics to drive improvements in H&S performance across your area of responsibility. Implementing and continuously improving H&S programs and practices. Heres what youll need: Bachelors degree in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or related field Minimum of 8 years in a full-time H&S role, with expertise in heavy civil construction safety Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification (preferred) Knowledge of OSHA construction standards and comprehensive understanding of regulatory compliance, including federal, state, and local agency requirements Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills Excellent writing and verbal communication skills Residency within the Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, or North Dakota (preferred) Ability to travel to projects and offices within Northwest (Hawaii, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, & North Dakota), and the West Region Jacobs' health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about. And certain roles may be eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, performance discretionary bonus, and stock. The base salary range for this position is $89,400.00 to $156,400.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
