Drafting Program Instructor
Savannah Technical College is seeking a part-time Instructor for the Drafting program. The Instructor will report to the Department Head of Drafting. This individual will be responsible for teaching students in classroom and lab environments, as well as advising students and performing various departmental and college wide assignments. Responsibilities Recruitment and retention of students. Daily teaching duties include class lecture, lesson planning, and classroom management. Other duties include reporting inventory, school-wide planning, providing registration assistance, working on projects with other Industrial Technology departments and perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Industrial Technology. Flexible work schedule hours to include day/evening classes. Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree in Drafting or a closely related field from an accredited college or university or five (5) years' work experience in Drafting. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned. Three (3) years of drafting/CAD experience within the past seven (7) years with the following CAD software: AutoCAD, Inventor Professional, Architectural Desktop, Revit, Solid Works and CATIA. All AutoCAD software must be at least 2015 or later. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Drafting or closely related field. A working knowledge of online education or distance learning. Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with computer skills. Five (5) years of teaching experience at a postsecondary college is desired. Physical Demands Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) - four (4) continuous hours at a time. The employee frequently lifts lightweight objects up to 50LBS. The work is performed in campus buildings and outdoors where the employee is occasionally exposed to cold or inclement weather. The exposure to dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, chemicals, and fumes is possible in the laboratory environment. The ability to speak clearly is required. The ability to hear and understand at a normal conversational level is required. Application Procedure Position considered open until filled.
