Commercial Manager - Pacific

The Commercial Manager - Pacific will be responsible supporting the project management teams in CDM Constructors' Pacific region, primarily projects in California. The role will support negotiation, setup, and implementation of all contracts necessary for a successful project, as well as communications with the client and with subcontractors and suppliers. The position will also evaluate project risks, and support transfer and/or mitigation of such risks where possible. Contract Administration and Management: The candidate must understand and be knowledgeable in project delivery systems, contracting strategies, and typical contract forms and terms. The role will provide training to the project teams on contract requirements and key clauses. Support provided to the project teams on contract compliance for key projects, as well as managing and tracking notices across key projects. Client Contract Management: In early involvement, the role will support negotiation of the client contract. Support the project team through execution of the project, and manage to the contract requirements. This position will assist the project team in drafting notices to the client, and responses to client notices, as well as supporting other communications and messaging to the client. Manage and track all notices and responses to and from the client. Subcontractor Management: This position will assist the project team and procurement team in managing subcontractors and suppliers, including negotiation of subcontracts, and management of subcontractor performance to the requirements of the subcontracts and client contract. Provide training as necessary to the project teams on key subcontract terms. Assist in drafting notices to subcontractors, responses to subcontractor notices, including management and tracking of such correspondence. Risk Management: Support the project teams in identifying and evaluating project risks, and risk mitigation strategies. Assist the project team in developing and maintaining a project risk register. Claim management: Early support for claims and disputes on the project. Identify contractual requirements to maintain and prosecute claims, and assist project team in managing to those requirements. Ensure that proper documentation is developed and maintained for claims. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. 5 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
