As the Manager, International Food Safety and Quality Assurance, you will work closely with team members on the International Partnerships & New Ventures team. The International Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager will support Chipotle's licensed partners by partnering with suppliers, distributors, and others to develop and manage a world-class Food Safety and Quality Assurance program. This individual is a champion for food safety and quality improvement programs throughout the supply chain and is driving continuous awareness and improvement in these areas. This candidate will write projects, studies, and reports detailing improvements to achieve our food safety and quality goals. What You'll Do
Support Chipotle's partnership business in Mexico In partnership with international operators and the domestic Chipotle FSQA team, develop and implement a comprehensive food safety and quality assurance strategy for international partnerships and joint ventures that uphold Chipotle's industry-leading standards. Conducting food safety and quality assessments at distribution centers, suppliers, and restaurants (as needed) Work as a partner with both Chipotle and licensee supplier base and distributors to evaluate current programs and help them implement industry leading food safety and quality programs Working with our supplier and laboratory partners to analyze data, collect samples, and update necessary business and quality documentation Establishing procedures for data collection with our suppliers and utilizing Statistical Process Control (SPC) to analyze results Working with project leads on food safety and process improvement projects and summarizing results Spend up to 50% time as needed in restaurants teaching, training, and coaching field leadership Perform a mix of announced and unannounced visits and use a visit guide to document all observations Monitor 3rd party audit results, regulatory visit results, and other factors to target your visits to make the biggest impact Participate in operations leadership meetings and events to ensure consistent messaging and influence Food Safety culture Be an expert at all Chipotle policies and procedures so you can assess adherence and provide coaching during visits What You'll Bring To The Table
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from 4-year college or university in Microbiology, Food Sciences, or another related field required. Masters or PhD preferred Bilingual English/Spanish preferred Up to 50-60% travel as required 5-8 years of experience in Food Safety and Quality Assurance - Microbiology, Food Science, or similar field 1-3 years of supervisory experience Training, certification, and experience conducting supplier and distribution center assessments Can execute food research and quality assurance projects. Enjoys working within quality management systems and must be proficient in Microsoft office, and other software necessary for data entry and reporting Be a critical thinker with strong analytical skills and the capability to collect and clearly analyze data and report research results Possess extraordinary organization skills and ability to prioritize projects Thrive in a fast-moving environment Able to travel often by air and able to drive own vehicle to Newport Beach area Possess a strong understanding of Food Science principles and food preparation techniques Have a working understanding of domestic and international regulations related to nutrition and allergen policy Be able to perform occasional QA and sensory evaluations on a variety of foods including highly spicy foods, animal proteins, and foods with potential allergens including but not limited to milk, eggs, soybeans, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, wheat, and gluten, sulfites, sesame seeds, and mustard. Willing to work on programs and projects outside of one's responsibility to assure the job gets done. Able to travel to distribution centers and suppliers to conduct audits and quality evaluations. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $113,000.00$158,000.00. You are also eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level, experience, and/or education.
