Seasonal Plant Lab Technician I - 2nd Shift

Hours and Schedule: 4:00PM-4:00AM 2-2-3 Schedule Pay Range: $22.36/Hour Hiring rate $3 Night shift premium (6pm
6am) and $2.25 Weekend shift premium (Saturday and Sunday shifts). Could earn $1,500 in bonuses your first year. Job Overview: Perform laboratory tests on various products including dairy and environmental samples. Responsible for providing accurate test results using predetermined, approved methods of analysis and ensuring that results are communicated to our internal customers in a timely and efficient manner. Collaborate in the support of internal and external programs. Job Duties & Responsibilities: Product Testing
Sample collection as directed for analytical or micro testing Preparation of samples to send to corporate lab or third-party lab as needed, which may include compositing Perform tests and analyses accurately and timely on samples of dairy products Follow test procedures using reference methods, such as AOAC or Standard Methods for the Examination of Dairy Products, and others as required Tests may include Moisture and salt analysis, butterfat, proteins, total solids, pH, titratable acidity, various bacteriological testing, inhibitory substances, sample preparation, and other tests as directed Commission, adjust, and operate laboratory equipment and instruments such as microscopes, pH meter, protein analysis equipment, milk/whey/cheese component analysis equipment, automated titration equipment, laboratory balances and other equipment Troubleshoot basic equipment and testing procedures Perform routine calibration and maintenance on laboratory equipment Organize and prepare supplies needed to complete work Maintain lab equipment and glassware by picking-up, cleaning, washing, and storing in an organized and sanitary manner Maintain a functional and clean work area Follow all regulatory, safety, standard operating procedures, good manufacturing practices (GMPs) and good laboratory practices (GLPs)
Environmental Testing
Water or isogrid (as applicable) collection Air sampling (environmental and compressed air as applicable) Environmental swabbing for Listeria, Salmonella, and Cronobacter (as applicable) Swab equipment for sanitation verification to include clean equipment and end of day as applicable
Recording Data & Communication of Results
Effectively communicate test results (written and oral) Entry of results into databases, e.g. Labware, D365
Functional Lab Program Support
Assist with the completion of functional program activities that may include:
Data Entry and Review for accuracy Lab SOP Review Testing/Sampling (environmental, air, water) Collaborate with the management team to find new and creative ways to maximize job efficiency, cost containment and reduction efforts, streamline documentation processes, implement and utilize new technology, and/or improve information
Additional Responsibilities
Follow all company policies and procedures Follow government standards and regulations Provide backup relief as needed Follow all safety procedures as required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Good analytical, math, and problem-solving skills Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel) preferred Prior history of actual lab bench time experience and the ability to demonstrate knowledge of proper laboratory techniques, whether by job experience or prior education preferred. Self-organization skills Ability to read and use equipment manuals Good listening and communication skills Ability to collaborate Qualifications
Education
Required:
High School Diploma or better in General Education. Preferred:
Associates Degree or better in Microbiology. Experience
Preferred:
One (1) or more years of related experience. Licenses & Certifications
