Burns, City of (OR) $43,044.00 - $57,708.00 Annually Burns, OR Full-Time Continuous General Statement Of Duties

Performs a variety of manual and semi-skilled tasks in public works construction, maintenance and repair of the city's streets, parks, water, and sewer facilities; operates automotive and power equipment. Does related work as required. Supervision Received

Works under the supervision of the Public Works Foreman or the Public Works Director. Typical Examples Of Work

An employee in this class may perform any or all duties listed. These examples do not, however, include all tasks which the employee may be expected to perform within this class. Operates street and sign painting equipment; performs sign maintenance and replacement. Assists with installation of water and sewer lines, valves, tees, fire hydrant and manholes. Repairs and connects lines, installs, and inspects water meters and performs general maintenance and construction duties as outlined by the Foreman or Public Works Director. Turns on and off water for resident and commercial buildings. Operates a variety of equipment in construction with work assignments such as vehicles, jackhammer, compressor, dump trucks, etc. Repairs street holes with hot or cold asphalt; removes snow from streets; set forms or curbs, sidewalk and driveway approach repairs and assists in concrete placement and finish. Accurately reads water meter registers and legibly records the figures in the meter books. Performs landscaping and ground maintenance functions. Performs maintenance functions on City storm drainage system. Performs mechanical maintenance work on machinery. May be required to perform as a carpenter or fabricator in various repair projects. Must keep work site in a clean and organized condition. Must have the ability to respond to system maintenance and or service calls outside scheduled work hours while on call or in the event of emergency. Desirable Qualifications For Employment Knowledge, Skill And Ability

Possession of Oregon Water Distribution Certification, Oregon wastewater collections certification or related certifications. Thorough knowledge of the materials, methods and techniques used in the construction and maintenance of streets, parks, water and sewer facilities and other related projects. Must have the ability to be certified in drinking water and wastewater. Considerable knowledge of the proper and safe use of the construction and maintenance of equipment used in the work. Considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions related to the work. Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions and to act upon them accordingly. Ability to perform strenuous manual tasks. Ability to crouch, bend, kneel, and walk while carrying up to 50 pounds and to withstand exposure to variable weather conditions. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees and the general public. Experience And Training

Any satisfactory experience and training which ensures the ability to perform the work. Necessary Special Qualifications

Knowledge of street locations in Burns is a plus. First aid card a plus. Must have basic computer skills, must be able to pass a drug test. Required Qualifications
