Essential Job Functions: Set up and operates all machine shop equipment Make repairs and maintains tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, models, instruments and parts Assist in size changeovers Performs overhauls Set dies in machines for production, testing, experimenting, demonstrating, and instruction purposes Reports immediately to supervision about all accidents, damage, emergencies, shortages, and problems with equipment and other items that would cause an interruption or problem in the operation Read and understand blueprints Operate mills, lathes, grinders, and power tools Troubleshoot all mechanical components of automated production lines Train and gain working knowledge of mechanical components Job Requirements: Experience working with close tolerances Skilled in setting up and operating all machine shop equipment Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, handbooks, specifications, equipment manuals, parts lists and other written material associated with the trade Experience/Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Industrial experience preferred Journeyman level machinist competency Must have served a machinist apprenticeship of 4 years or equivalent experience Physical Requirements: Able to pass physical examination Location: St. Joseph, MO Company: Silgan Containers
