Systems Administration Support

The SA shall provide systems administration support and engineering services to a variety of systems at designated field offices, central monitoring plants (CMP), and other facilities. The SA shall provide day-to-day systems administration, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and training of deployed systems, central monitoring plants (CMP), server rooms, collection systems, associated feeder systems, and digital forensic systems and associated networks. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of collection systems at the UNCLASSIFIED and SECRET classification levels. Management, operations, and maintenance of enterprise computer-based systems, such as server installation, configuration, policy deployment, enforcement, and monitoring to ensure 24/7/365 continued mission critical operations. Support systems within a regional model where regions often span multiple states. Liaise with telecommunications service providers to engineer, implement, and troubleshoot telephony input lines. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOP) with Government supervision, guidance, and approvals. Assistance in resolution of user questions/problems regarding installed systems and equipment. Corrective and preventative maintenance of systems to identify and correct performance, and implementation failures, faults or defaults that impair system/equipment performance and functionality. Coordination of warranty work, troubleshooting and emergency repairs to effect immediate corrections so that operations are not interrupted. Preventative maintenance to adjust, maintain, or otherwise improve performance or enhance the overall maintainability of systems/equipment. Risk analysis to identify potential problems, systems/equipment modification and/or correction. Perform inventory, logistical, and clerical support for shipments and deliveries of operational equipment. Prepare administrative and other reports for submission to Management, Program Management (PM) and Field Office Customers as required. The position requires an individual that can perform prompt, efficient, and professional support to users for their assigned sites; can track and report on the status of work; is able to provide front-line troubleshooting; and is able to utilize a background of experience to resolve issues. Staff in this labor category should possess strong customer service skills, be able to articulate (written and verbally) the problems/issues at their site, and articulate solutions Government Task Lead (GTL) and management. Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills: The SA shall have relevant work experience in Systems/Equipment installation, administration, configuration, implementation, maintenance, and validation of installation of components: The ability to create, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot virtual machines, preferably using Microsoft Hyper-V. Know how to manage, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Failover Clusters. Know how to support a variety of mass storage arrays and RAID configurations. Know how to use Microsoft PowerShell to automate tedious, repetitive, and/or error prone tasks related to installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and management of IT systems and services. Know how to install a server into a rack, load and configure a Windows Operating System on it. Know how to Preboot Execution Environment (PXE) boot a server and load an image on to it with Windows Deployment Server. Know how to replace/install RAM, hard drives, network cards, and storage cards in a computer/server. Know how to troubleshoot basic network troubleshooting, such as IP conflicts, DNS resolution problems, being able to determine the status of a switch port. Be able to evaluate effectiveness of existing technologies on site and considering emerging technologies. Add, configure, and manage Roles and Features on Microsoft Server (current Version) including but not limited to: a. File and Storage Services b. Print and Document Services c. Remote Desktop Services Know how to troubleshoot Windows Server Update Services issues, to include how to use the SFC and DISM programs. Manages tape backup server, tape backup library, and tape workstations used to archive user data and perform system backups, refilling the inventory of blank tapes, managing other than normal operations, identifying / correcting unexpected situations (e.g. Arcserve backup and replication, etc.). Configure and monitor systems/servers utilizing Windows Admin Center. Configure and monitor systems/servers utilizing a variety of Remote Server Administrative Tools (RSAT), such as but not limited to: a. Active Directory Users and Computers b. Remote Desktop c. Hyper-V Manager d. Failover Cluster Manager e. Windows Deployment Services Configure and monitor SQL servers utilizing SQL Server Management Tools. Recognizes failed hardware such as hard drives, power supplies, components, or entire servers. Follows detailed instructions to identify, troubleshoot, and replace faulty equipment. Completes and maintains Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Checklists, Standard Operating Procedures/Guidelines, and additional documents/reports as assigned. Minimum Education: Four (4) year college degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, plus at least five (5) years of relevant work experience installing, managing, and maintaining IT systems in a production environment described above or in lieu of education nine (9) years of experience. Pay Information: Full-Time Salary Range: $77809 - $132275 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
