Quality Coordinator

We are seeking a dedicated Quality Coordinator to lead our site's quality assurance and control efforts in a unionized manufacturing environment. This role is critical to ensuring product compliance, maintaining ISO 9001 standards, and driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong technical expertise and a commitment to quality excellence. Key responsibilities include overseeing daily quality control operations including raw material verification, in-process inspections, and final product testing; ensuring timely and accurate issuance of Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for all outgoing products; analyzing Statistical Process Control (SPC) data to monitor product and process stability; identifying trends and implementing improvements; managing Corrective and Preventive Action Requests (CCARs), ensuring root causes are addressed and corrective actions are executed; leading internal ISO 9001 audits and maintaining certification compliance; preparing for external and customer audits; fostering effective communication and collaboration with union-represented employees, respecting the collective bargaining agreement; partnering with cross-functional teams (Production, Maintenance, R&D) to resolve quality issues and implement preventive measures; training and guiding QC technicians and support staff to ensure consistent application of quality standards; serving as the primary contact for customer quality concerns, complaints, and returns; supporting resolution and documentation; and generating and presenting quality performance reports to plant leadership. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related technical field (or equivalent industry experience); minimum 5 years of quality experience in refractory, ceramics, or heavy manufacturing; 2+ years in a leadership role; experience in a unionized production environment strongly preferred; strong knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS, audit processes, and documentation practices; proficiency in SPC, root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone), and continuous improvement tools; excellent communication, team-building, and conflict-resolution skills; competency in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP or LIMS systems is a plus.
