Assistant Area Manager
Knoxville, TN, US, 37932 Harrison Construction Company Position Overview This position is responsible for managing all aspects of ready-mix plant production including all steps in production and transport. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) Being site safety champion: Ensure the safety of all employees, contractors, and the public whom they may interact with at the plant or on the jobsite. Must conduct himself/herself and make decisions that are safe and ethical. Responsible for adherence to all government, DOT, state, environmental and human resource regulations. Lead in managing safety site talks and plant inspections. Must understand and follow TDOT requirements for public work. Responsible for completing quality control testing as required. Operating various ready-mix plants by batching, loader operations, and yard maintenance. Must be able to assist in monthly and yearly inventories. Work and communicate with dispatch and sales on day to day pour scheduling and material requirements for future work. Assist drivers with vehicle breakdowns, site issues, and customer complaints. Maintain a strong customer driven environment. Focus on customer service. Additional Responsibilities Integrity, communication, recognition, action, results oriented, positive attitude, work ethic, growth and development and commitment to be successful at Harrison Construction. Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public always. Be able to interact with vendors, construction employees and all levels of management. Must possess a valid driver's license, for operation of a company vehicle. Must be willing to travel and work away from home, when required. Must be willing to work nights and weekends, when necessary. Strict adherence to safety protocols of Harrison Construction. Strict adherence to policies and procedures, as outlined in the company's Policy Handbook. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers with other duties as required. Education/Experience Minimum of 5 years of experience in ready-mix production ACI Certification 1 required TDOT Level 2 certification required Must have loader certification or experience. Must have ready-mix batching experience using Command Batch Must be able to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PDF, Outlook) Work Requirements Must be able to work various hours/days including nights/weekends based off customer needs. Must have reliable transportation. Must be punctual. Physical Requirements Able to use hands and fingers to manipulate objects and controls. Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth and the ability to adjust focus. Able to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Able to work in all weather conditions. Work may be performed in an office setting and outside on a job site or in the plant. Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, and twisting. Intermittently lift 50 pounds as needed. Work Environment This position will work indoors, outdoors and on a job site and in a plant. Work environment will vary depending on job task.
