Join a leading steel fabricator specializing in vessels and heat exchangers as a tube welder. In this role, you will be tasked with TIG welding on small diameter tubing, less than 1/4", using thin gauge stainless steel. In addition, you may be responsible for laying out and fitting fabricated parts to vessel shells based on blueprints and drawings. Once laid out, you will perform welding using MIG and Flux Core techniques on carbon steel ranging from 1/4" to thicker materials. A key expectation is to pass welding inspections with minimal oversight. Responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams, or schematics. Layout and fit up fabricated parts to vessel shells. Perform MIG and Flux Core welding on thicker materials. Conduct TIG welding on small diameter thin gauge tubing. Pass welding inspections with minimal oversight. Weld saddle both uphill and downhill. Handle assembly and mechanical tasks related to tanks and pipes. Use industrial hand tools for material layout and fitting. Essential Skills

Ability to read blueprints and schematics. 5+ years of fabrication experience. 3+ years of vessel welding experience or tube welding experience. Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Flux Core welding. Why Work Here?

Work Environment

Work in a medium-sized vessel shop with a non-A/C, open-air environment, surrounded by large vessels and heat exchangers. Safety is a priority, with a team-oriented atmosphere reporting to a lead man. The team includes around 20 employees on day shifts and 8 on night shifts. Dress code includes steel-toed boots, jeans, work shirts, safety glasses, and hard hats. Day shifts run from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday, with potential Saturday hours. Night shifts operate from 5:30 pm to 5:30 am, also Monday to Friday. Expect to work 49 to 58 hours on day shifts and close to 60 to 66 hours on night shifts weekly as workload increases. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, Texas. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
