Parks Maintenance
Carries out maintenance of park grounds and facilities, including mowing and weed eating grass, cutting and trimming trees, cleaning restrooms, and cleaning swimming pools, special events, ball field maintenance, landscaping, painting, dirt work, graffiti removal and trash pick-up. Applicants are encouraged to submit a resume. Essential functions include: Mows and weed eats grass at city parks and medians. Trims and cuts trees Cleans restrooms at parks and cleans the community center. Performs routine repairs on equipment in the park. Picks up litter in the parks and other city facilities. Performs all job duties according to all approved safety rules and procedures. Actively participates in monthly safety meetings. Promptly reports all accidents, injuries, theft, loss, and broken/damaged equipment/property to their immediate supervisor. Reports or corrects all unsafe practices or conditions they observe to their immediate supervisor. May apply pesticides. Performs such other duties as may be assigned to assist with special events, etc. Serves in an extension of current duties as required for emergency management, particularly in the areas of shelter, debris removal, and recovery. Provides quality customer service to city staff, the general public, and all other work contacts. Minimum qualifications include: High school graduate and or its equivalent. Or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Knowledge of light machinery operation and safety procedures. Knowledge of CPR. Skills include: Ability to tolerate outside working conditions, including exposure to adverse weather conditions and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, plumbing, equipment safety, chemical safety and maintenance, horticulture, playground safety, tractors, mowers, and irrigation. Reads and comprehends warning labels and road signs. Playground safety, reports, vandalism reports. Measures and mixes cleaning agents. Follows instructions on use of chemicals, and park safety procedures (playground & equipment). Licenses and certification requirements include: Valid Class C Texas Driver's License Commercial Driver's license preferred (or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment) Pesticide Application License preferred. CPR and First Aid preferred. Physical demands and working environment include: Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, crouching, bending, vision, hearing, talking, and use of foot controls. Exposure to weather, vibrations, noise from equipment, and hazardous chemicals. *This position requires availability to work on weekends as part of the regular schedule. Hiring Range: $17.49 to $21.91, hourly.
