Auditor II - Gaming Commission
Reporting to the Manager, Audit - Gaming Commission, the Auditor II - Gaming Commission participates in the planning and execution of financial, operational, compliance, and fraud audits, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies independently or within a project team. Utilizing advanced data analysis techniques, the role executes continuous monitoring reviews and embeds efficient audit techniques into audit processes. The role assesses internal controls through interviews and testing, leading discussions with all levels of management across the organization on audit findings and suggesting business improvements to assist the business with managing risk. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Participates in the planning and performance of risk based financial, operational, compliance, and fraud audits under the supervision of senior auditors and/or management, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, financial accounting and auditing standards, and company policies, while also assisting in developing risk-based audit programs and assisting in the handling unique or complex assignments requiring specialized knowledge. Uses data analysis techniques to execute continuous monitoring reviews, identify unusual or fraudulent transactions, and perform testing over large populations. Assists in formulating recommendations to implement anti-fraud controls and educates relevant personnel. Completes interviews, observations, and substantive testing with key personnel to assess risk and the effectiveness of internal controls and participates in meetings to discuss audit findings and recommends improved business practices. Prepares accurate and detailed workpapers in compliance with regulatory, industry, accounting, audit, and department standards, using available technology/audit software and contributes to clear and concise audit reports for distribution to management and relevant authorities. Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives by providing advisory and consulting services to management, enhancing efficiency, effectiveness, and utilization of company assets. Actively contributes to projects, ensuring strong communication and project management skills are applied. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department. Education, Experience And Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field from an accredited university is required. Minimum two (2) years of experience in internal audit, consulting, or investigative position is required. Minimum one (1) year of public accounting experience is preferred. Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (Ksa) Working knowledge of internal audit processes, including planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases, sufficient to complete projects evaluating the effectiveness of internal control systems. Relevant experience with top-tier public accounting firm and experience in regulating, auditing or accounting in the gaming and hospitality industry is preferred. Knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, COSO, GASB, and internal auditing standards and ethics. Experience in identifying and evaluating risks, understanding business processes, and conducting thorough audits. Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities. Excellent communication, analytical thinking, attention to detail, adaptability, and time management skills, including the ability to interact with management and present findings and articulate risk and control clearly and accurately. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook, Internet research skills and the ability to utilize available technology such as audit software, internal systems, and/or data analytics tools. Experience with audits of regulatory requirements such as Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) issued by National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, and/or Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance preferred. Familiarity with gaming and hospitality industry rules and regulations preferred. Ability to perform duties impartially and without external influence, ensuring accurate assessments, maintaining public trust, and upholding ethical standards in compliance with regulations. Must not have any direct relatives associated in gaming operations, gaming facilities, and/or gaming activities under the jurisdiction of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission (SMTGC). Licenses, Certifications And Registrations At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license. Professional certification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) is preferred. Driving Responsibilities: Role requires regular commuting between locations. A valid driver's license and vehicle insurance with minimum liability limits is required. Role will not operate or drive Tribe-owned vehicles or patron vehicles. Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions
Environment Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting. Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences. Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
