Building Maintenance Supervisor
Under the general supervision of a Building Maintenance Supervisor II: The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform include: Supervising and overseeing a workforce of skilled and semi-skilled employees engaged in building construction and reconstruction and major equipment repairs in the Albany Thruway Division, including installation, operation, maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment, heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment and water and wastewater treatment systems. Observing and inspecting work while in progress and when completed to make sure that specific codes and regulations are followed, materials and equipment are used properly, schedules are met, and work is performed according to plan. Preparing and maintaining written records of work performed and completed and accounts for labor and material used. Evaluating the work performance of subordinate employees. Minimum qualifications required for this vacancy include: Five years of journey-level experience as a Carpenter, Electrician, General Mechanic, Refrigeration Mechanic, HVAC Technician, Mason and Plasterer, Painter, Plumber, Machinist, Steamfitter, Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, or Roofer and Tinsmith. One year of the five years must have been supervising employees engaged in one or more of the above fields. This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in an NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified. Additional comments regarding the vacancy: This is a CSEA position. ADDITIONAL PAY INFORMATION: The salary range for this position includes all applicable annual components of pay which are: Base Pay Range from Hiring Rate $54,738 up to Job Rate $77,993 Recruitment & Retention Pay: $7,000.
