Communications & Public Affairs Specialist

The Communications & Public Affairs Specialist is responsible for developing and executing specialized and impactful communications strategies across social media, video, podcast, and communications platforms in support of countywide programs, services, and business objectives. This role leads content planning and creation, manages digital engagement, and plays a key part in organizational communications. The Specialist collaborates with departments and stakeholders to ensure consistent, engaging, and on-brand communication across multiple channels. The Communications Specialist amplifies Jefferson County messaging and mission through engaging content and interactive employee experiences. May serve as a podcast creator/host, town hall moderator. This is a full-time, standard position that operates on the County's 4-day work week (Monday

Thursday, 10 hour days). This position is hybrid, with remote work and in-office work as needed. Hiring Range: $80,955-$82,500 USD Annually. Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills. Bilingual experience will receive an additional bonus compensation. Essential duties include managing and executing the organization's social media strategy across multiple platforms, contributing to the planning, development, and production of video content, designing and implementing a comprehensive social media content calendar, producing and presenting regular social media performance reports, working with the Public Affairs team to develop a recurring podcast series, writing scripts and preparing executive messaging for high-profile events, assisting with internal events, collaborating on internal communication campaigns, coordinating cross-functional efforts to ensure cohesive messaging, and continuously researching and adopting emerging communication tools and trends. Minimum qualifications include five years related work experience and a Bachelors Degree. Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities include experience in executive level communications, experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Google products, Microsoft Office, and Canva, proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, strong typography, color theory, and layout skills, experience with digital design, ability to create assets for multiple platforms, branding and visual identity design experience, strong attention to detail and design consistency, ability to interpret briefs and translate ideas into visual concepts, comfortable taking creative direction and feedback, strong time management and ability to juggle multiple projects, collaborative mindset, proactive, solution-oriented, and self-motivated, open to learning new tools and staying current with design trends, and strong communication and presentation skills.
