Part-Time After School Trainees
East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation (EBALDC) is seeking (3) Part-time After School Trainees in Oakland, CA Site: Lion Creek Crossings: 6951 Lion Way, Oakland, CA 94621 EBALDC invests heavily in our 27 residential properties with people- and place-based strategies to ensure our residents live healthy, happy lives. At Lion Creek Crossings, our largest development based in East Oakland, we support families with a wide array of social and financial services, including the Lion's Pride Program. This comprehensive K-5 after-school and summer program were developed in alignment with the Oakland Unified School District's (OUSD) Havens court Campuses. We focus on youth literacy and academic achievement, with four areas of enrichment 1) STEAM education; 2) a counseling component that supports youth with socio-emotional issues; 3) violence prevention through the arts and community building; and 4) Roaring Forward, an initiative to help teens become college and career ready. The After-School Trainee role is a temporary position that will work with youth virtually and in one-on-one outdoor activities with K
2nd grade with no more than 100 hours a year. It is based at Lion Creek Crossings in East Oakland. Key Role: lead Teen Book Club and other Teen events in the community. Key Duties & Responsibilities
Support with weekly distributions of curriculum supplies and prize giveaways in Lion's Pride After School Support meal and produce deliveries to Senior residents at LCC with Resident Service Coordinators Provide assistance in distribution of supplies for teen program participants Support virtual classroom instruction for Lion's Pride youth, grades Kindergarten to 5th, using a STEAM based curriculum and Youth Program Quality (YPQ) standards. Implement program activities such as team building games, community building and participate in virtual Hip Hop classes as a participant. Provide support with mentoring K-5 youth, participate in learning Restorative Justice techniques, participating in conflict resolution circles, reading groups, supporting with Bike Club, and one-on-one outdoor art projects Support with homework assistance virtually/in person when permitted, participating in mini book club with K-5 youth Support in parent engagement and activities as designated by Youth Program Manager Provide good customer service, acting courteously, compassionately, and responsively to all parents and family members. Support distribution efforts from partnered neighborhood schools as designated by Youth Programs Manager Accurately and efficiently enter data into various online customer tracking systems in a timely manner. Complete all necessary student paperwork such as sign-in sheets, enrollment forms, and permission slips. Keep client files organized based on program standards. Support and conduct outreach for youth and teen programs including flyer making Maintain a clean after school and teen program environment. Report to work as scheduled, and follows call-in and approval procedures for time off. Participate in training and development programs to improve personal skills/knowledge, which include youth development, financial education, financial coaching, and weekly supervisor check ins. Must be a resident of the Havens court neighborhood of East Oakland. Must be ages 16-21 years. Able to use good judgement and seek advice when appropriate. Demonstrates a positive attitude, respect, and rapport with colleagues and community. Must be able to have a computer or device to keep webcam on during virtual interactions with functioning mic. Must have a device to digitally view and submit documents, surveys or forms. Passes criminal, DOJ, and other background checks, if over the age of 18. Must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher if in school. Must be able to pass a reading and math test at a 4th grade level. Salary: $19.95 Hourly.
