Store Planner
This role involves the architectural planning of retail interiors for Nordstrom Rack physical stores to support new and existing store construction projects, and store optimization initiatives. This position reports to the Senior Store Planner. Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to: Develop store layouts with the ideal configuration of program elements which optimize the sales floor, BOH and customer service areas. Develop space planning studies and test fit plans as required. Meet regularly with the Senior Store Planner to ensure that project goals and deliverables are met. Meet regularly with Nordstrom Rack stakeholders to understand business goals and operational needs that will inform store planning standards and other initiatives. Drives the development of store planning standards by applying industry best practice and staying current with competitors and retail innovations. Assist the construction project management team by optimizing store planning processes to improve project delivery speed, efficiency and costs. Create tools to organize, document and communicate project status through the project lifecycle. Manage and co-ordinate external architectural firms, engineering consultants, vendors and fabricators to ensure all project timelines and deliverables are met. Participate in the selection of retail systems and specifications. Work closely with internal Nordstrom business partners and project managers throughout the project lifecycle. You own this if you have: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Interior Design or a related field Minimum 5+ years of experience in retail space planning or related field Must have experience using industry standard software (AutoCAD, Sketchup, Bluebeam, Photoshop, Indesign) and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong knowledge of space planning and the overall design process from concept to construction. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to clearly and effectively communicate planning ideas, issues and resolutions to multidisciplinary cross functional groups. Understanding of building codes and ADA requirements. Communication: skilled in the visual, written and verbal communication of design and construction issues, project planning and management. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with multidisciplinary cross functional groups and leverage negotiation skills as necessary. Organizational skills: attention to detail and ability to multi-task. Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to analyze complex situations to find key insights and drive simple solutions. Manage complexity: ability to manage a high volume of work within compressed timeframes.
