Operations Supervisor
The Operations Supervisor supervises the unloading, loading, storage, moving and handling of coal within the confines of the Terminal and river loading areas. What You'll Do: Plan, schedule and supervise the work of employees and follow up on the progress, quality and quantity of their work. Supervise the job and safety training of the employees under his supervision. Inspect mechanical and electrical equipment, fixtures, buildings and yard to determine maintenance requirements. Issue work orders to accomplish the work. Coordinates work assignments with maintenance to ensure efficient utilization of manpower and downtime. Supervise the maintenance, use and care of all tools, equipment and materials. Recommend improvements to management in operating procedures and other matters pertaining to the efficient operation of the Terminal. Prepare shift status report for exchange of information with other operations and maintenance supervisors to communicate work, equipment and maintenance status. Initiate material requisitions as necessary. Issue necessary work clearance permits to assure the safety of both personnel and equipment. Direct the proper lock-out/tag-out procedure. Supervise, instruct and train employees in the proper performance of their work duties; prepare them for more responsible positions. What We're Looking For: Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or GED. Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience with maintenance and operation of coal handling equipment. Basic computer skills. Two year technical degree in electronics or related field preferred. Other Requirements: This position requires working shifts. Ensure that all activities are being conducted in accordance with federal, state and local safety standards. Enforce and promote safety regulations to ensure the safety of those in his department and others. Conduct weekly safety meetings.
