Tenure-Track Assistant Professor for Division of Transplantation Surgery

The Department of Surgery, Division of Abdominal Transplantation at the Ohio State University currently has an opportunity for tenure-track faculty at the Assistant Professor level with research interests related to transplant immunology. Responsibilities include contributing to a cohesive transplant immunology program, collaborating with other leaders in immunology to develop an integrated enterprise immunology presence; serving as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on sponsored research grants and on original research projects; conceptualizing, planning, designing, implementing, and conducting research studies in the area of transplant immunology; developing and writing grant proposals to seek and obtain funding to support research program; securing and maintaining NIH R01 or equivalent funding; writing and publishing research in high quality peer reviewed, scientific journals; attending and making presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences; developing national and international scholarly reputation; instructing and mentoring junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents, and fellow trainees; participating in division, department, college, and university committees and initiatives. Key words: Immunology, Ischemia-reperfusion, oxidative stress, innate and adaptive immunity. This position is 100% research. Duties and responsibilities include conceptualizing, planning, designing, implementing, and conducting research studies in the area of transplant immunology; developing and writing grant proposals to seek and obtain extramural funding to support research program; obtaining and maintaining NIH R01 or equivalent funding; writing and publishing research in high quality peer reviewed, scientific journals; attending and making presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences; developing national and international scholarly reputation; instructing and mentoring junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents, and fellow trainees; participating in department, college, and university committees and initiatives. Requirements include a PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field, postdoctoral research experience in basic science research and transplant immunology required, with considerable experience in immune activation and immune tolerance; proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals preferred; current, active extramural grant funding (equivalent to NIH R01); academic experience a plus; qualify for academic appointment at the Assistant Professor level
