Senior-level Staff Accountant

We have expanded beyond Tax and now also perform implementations for Motor Vehicle, Driver License, Unemployment Insurance, and Child Support Engagement agencies. As a senior-level Staff Accountant, you will be a key contributor to our finance team, responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting overall business operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to take ownership of financial processes in a fast-paced environment. General Accounting & Financial Reporting Maintain the general ledger, reconcile accounts, and prepare adjusting journal entries to ensure compliance with GAAP and tax regulations. Analyze journal entries, accruals, and adjustments before generating financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness. Prepare internal and external financial statements, gathering and interpreting data for leadership and compliance reporting. Ensure adherence to financial policies, controls, and regulatory requirements, identifying areas for process improvement. Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigating variances and ensuring proper account maintenance. Fixed Assets & Payroll Oversee fixed asset management, maintaining accurate records, assigning depreciation methods, and determining useful asset life in compliance with federal tax guidelines. Accurately record and process semimonthly payroll journal entries, ensuring proper allocation across departments and cost centers. Accounts Payable & Reconciliations Assist in processing accounts payable, ensuring accurate vendor reconciliations, expense tracking, and compliance with company policies. Conduct credit card reconciliations, verifying transactions, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring timely resolution. Audit & Compliance Support audit and tax preparation efforts by gathering documentation, preparing reconciliations, and responding to auditor requests. Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal financial policies. Financial Analysis & Process Improvement Generate custom financial reports and provide insights to leadership to support strategic decision-making. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting initiatives. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities. Qualifications
Education & Certifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA eligibility or progress toward certification is a plus. Technical Skills Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax principles, and financial reporting standards. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience with pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling. Experience with accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems. Experience 5+ years of full cycle accounting experience. Hands-on experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation. Analytical & Soft Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen ability to identify financial trends and discrepancies. Highly detail-oriented, with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Ability to exercise sound judgment, take initiative, and work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
