The focus of this position is on the design and development of robust, first/next generation process machine systems and products that provide significant competitive advantage to Cornings businesses, and/or enable new products and product lines. Support internation and domestic project activities in Mobile Consumer Electronics manufacturing sites in the USA, China, Korea, and Taiwan. Identify and work to resolve gaps in equipment performance Support the transfer of technology for new systems to global sites Manage suppliers to deliver capability and systems on time Key Responsibilities: Comprehensive understanding of engineering standards, which are the established norms and guidelines that ensure quality, safety, and efficiency across engineering projects. Proficient in applying core engineering concepts, which are the fundamental ideas that guide the design, analysis, and optimization of engineering systems. Theoretical knowledge, practical techniques are demonstrated when executing tasks. Includes skills in SolidWorks and Computer-Aided Design (CAD), project management, and the use of specialized tools and equipment pertinent to both mechanical and project engineering fields. Techniques to translate theoretical concepts into practical applications, ensuring successful project execution and innovation in design and implementation. Demonstrated ability to lead engineering and cross-functional teams, manages program schedules and budgets, evaluates and selection of suppliers, and generates and presents executive status summaries. Work with project team members to solve difficult mechanical engineering and process equipment related problems, resolve project related issues, and develop understanding of process and equipment design requirements. Craft machine design specifications, budgets, and mechanical design concepts. Design and follow construction of prototype and production process equipment, conduct proof of concept and prototype tests to validate design concept, collect and evaluate data, and make appropriate engineering recommendations. Focus will be on the design, system integration/debug, installation, and production start-up of process machines, machine components and material handling systems, and training of plant personnel. Responsible for acquiring knowledge of assigned areas (tolerance analysis, component specification, process requirements, machine functionality, material selection, budgets, etc.) Work with external machine builders, system integrators, and suppliers to successfully deliver assigned areas of responsibility to overall project team on-time, on-budget, and to meet process performance measures. Support the generation of construction drawings (using 2D/3D software packages), installation drawings, and ensures that final drawing packages reflect as-built conditions and satisfies Corning drawing standards. Lead and manage domestic and international project activities, status, and issues on a periodic basis to project & department leadership. Experiences/Education - Required: B.S. / M.S. Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. 10+ years in a technical field to include: Mechanical Design of products and/or machines Vendor interaction for the fabrication of parts, assemblies, or large integrated systems Domestic and International Project or Engineering Management Technology or Product Transfer to manufacturing or other organizations Travel Requirements: Estimate travel; up to 25%-75% depending upon specific project assignment. Travel may be required during installation, debug, and start-up and for routine interaction with customers and suppliers, includes domestic and international. Long term stay 3-6 weeks could be required during critical project activities. This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $116,625.00 - $160,360.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
