Boxcar Repairperson - Journeyman
Amentum is seeking a Boxcar Repairperson - Journeyman to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. A Boxcar Repairperson - Journeyman, also known as a Railcar Repairman or Carman, is responsible for maintaining and repairing railway cars, including boxcars, according to industry standards. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance. Essential Responsibilities:
Perform repairs, modifications, and upgrades to various types of railcars and their components. Visually inspect cars and their components to identify defects, wear, and damage. Perform welding and cutting tasks as part of repair duties. Conduct various mechanical labor tasks. Maintain records of the condition of cars, repairs performed, and maintenance needed. Read and understand Task Hazard Analysis for identifying risks to health and safety. Report potential environmental concerns to the Environmental Service. Follow instructions, accomplish work assignments without direct supervision. Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for safety. Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations. May be required to work overtime. Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record. Remain alert for hazards involved in operating heavy equipment and observe safety and operating regulations. Perform other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned. Minimum Requirements:
Must be 18 years or older. Three (3) years' experience at the journeyman level. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Good writing and verbal communication skills. Must be able to operate a computerized based terminal. Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment. Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner. Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications as required by the Master Training Plan. Must have and maintain a valid State driver's license. Must be a United States or naturalized citizen able to obtain and maintain Hawthorne Army Depot (HWAD) site access. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance, as well as a Clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and be favorably vetted through the NCIC III System. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain these Clearances. Preferred Qualifications:
Technical or trade schooling is highly desirable. Safety Sensitive

As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, drug testing, medical exam and respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by 29 CFR and Army Regulations: AR 190-11, AR 190-13 and DOD Contractors Safety Manual 4145.26.
