Caterpillar's Decatur Facility has a current opening for a Facility Engineer. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the design, construction, installation and maintenance of assigned service systems, facilities and equipment. What You Will Do: Managing projects related to design/redesign of facility service systems collaboration across multiple departments and facilities, including: Cost estimates Design/draw equipment, structures, and systems Material procurement Specifications development Project reporting The development and maintenance of processes and standards Recommending changes to resolve design and construction problems Periodic report writing on the progress of the project Managing/leading resources across multiple employee categories/payrolls Reviewing and approving proposals and services as the primary company contact Estimating costs for equipment, materials and installation Performing feasibility studies and projecting return on investment Approving the drawings, specifying equipment and writing purchase requisitions Troubleshooting issues and resolving problems in the most efficient and cost effective way Designing the most economical, efficient systems, deciding what or which equipment should be purchased, making recommendations and keeping up-to-date on technical advances in the design field Adhere to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, hazardous materials and ergonomics in performing assigned duties. Facility Engineers are subject matter experts for the facility, and must acquire and maintain technical knowledge in the design field. Degree Requirement: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience. Top Candidates Will Have: Mechanical design experience using AutoCad and 3D modelling software such as CREO, Solidworks, etc. Experience working in manufacturing operations and maintenance procedures, as well as previous experience in a specific facility engineering-related discipline What Skills You Will Have: Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives. Construction Engineering and Technology: Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology to the construction industry; ability to apply principles, techniques, procedures and equipment for a specific branch of engineering to the design and production of various goods and services. Engineering - MFG: Knowledge of processes, techniques and methods of engineering in a manufacturing environment; ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention. Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance. Plant Facilities Management: Knowledge of processes, methodologies and techniques used to manage plant facilities; ability to handle the full spectrum of activities for managing and maintaining physical facilities and infrastructure. Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment. Additional Information: Primary location is Decatur IL Domestic relocation assistance is not available Travel will be up to 25% Sponsorship is not available Summary Pay Range: $95,640.00 - $143,520.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
