Job Summary: Responsible for the coordination of outside contract engineering firms for the design and analysis of the transmission system with regards to reliability, material adequacy, inspection technologies, and replacement of facilities in support of transmission projects. Essential Functions:

Provide project oversight to assigned Contract Engineering Firms. Provide technical guidance to assigned Contract Engineering Firms and operations staff. Provide technical guidance concerning equipment applications and ratings requirements. Provide technical expertise for utility interconnection requirements of large industrial customers, independent power producers, and tie-line interconnections. Make presentations (written or oral) to management and others on pertinent issues. Serve as a department representative on task forces, committees, and cross-functional teams. Interface with inspectors, engineers, construction personnel, warehousing personnel, purchasing agents, vendors, and management concerning projects and issues. Senior Engineer is expected to be proficient in the above duties and train others. Staff Engineer is expected to be proficient in the above duties, train others, take a lead role in department functions, and assist in the direction of strategic policy for the department. Education Description: Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university. A Professional Engineer (PE) license or active pursuit of a PE license in the State of Texas. Experience: Note that a Master of Science degree in Engineering can be substituted for 1 year of experience. And a PhD degree in Engineering can be substituted for 2 years of experience. Staff Engineer: Requires a minimum of 7 years of Transmission Line Design experience. A Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
