Rn Clinical Nurse

Shift: 3, 12Hr 19:00 - 07:00 Pay Range: $30.00 to $43.00 The Intensive Care Unit at UNC Health Wayne is a 16 bed unit that provides critical care and life support for patients who are critically or injured. This unit offers cardiac monitoring, mechanical ventilation, diagnostics, and post-operative care for adults with acute and chronic critical illness. Our staff composition includes RNs and CNAs. Shifts typically include 2-hour day and night rotations, with patients staying an average of length of stay 3-7 days. Nursing staff focus on assessing the patient's condition, providing patient care, medication administration, communicating with patients and their families; while support staff manage support duties, daily tasks such as bathing, eating, toileting, and repositioning. A Registered Nurse at Wayne UNC Health Care is a member of the patient care team who, with knowledge of the nursing process, provides leadership in applying scientific principles and professional skills aimed at caring for the ill, preventing disease and maintaining optimum health. The RN assists the provider in carrying out a therapeutic regimen for each patient and directs other licensed and non-licensed nursing teammates in providing nursing care to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of individual patients. The RN implements the nursing process in order to provide professional holistic patient care. Provides all nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current Registered Nurse Licensure in North Carolina required. Competent in BLS and/or other specialized life support certifications as required by department. Additional certifications may be required by assigned department. At least one year of experience preferred. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practice and procedures. Ability to apply the nursing process appropriately. Ability to assess the nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients. Ability to perform independently within scope of practice, and to work collaboratively. Good interpersonal and customer service skills. Good organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English. Proficient with EMR/ Epic, and able to learn new software rapidly. Ability to stand, walk and meet the physical requirements of the job for duration of shift.
