Traffic Signal Technician
The City of Topeka is seeking a dedicated individual to join its team as a Traffic Signal Technician. This position is responsible for the maintenance of City-owned traffic signals, streetlights and associated communications systems, which includes preventative, routine and emergency maintenance in all weather conditions. Traffic Signal Technicians must be able to work safely in and around moving traffic and will be required to work at heights up to 45 feet. Additionally, incumbents in this role must have the ability to determine color coding on electronic equipment and field wiring. What You'll Do: Repair, replace, adjust, and troubleshoot basic electrical systems. Respond to trouble calls during and after scheduled work shifts. Maintain City owned traffic signals. Operate skid loaders, bucket trucks and other construction equipment as needed. The Ideal Candidate: Enjoys taking things apart, problem solving, and putting them back together. Is highly organized, with the ability to work in fast-paced, distracting environments. Has experience operating Microsoft Office, Word and Excel. Is comfortable working independently as well as in a team environment. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Must possess and maintain a valid Kansas driver's license and city insurable driving record. Demonstrated experience with the operation of hand tools used in the construction or mechanical trades is required. Demonstrated experience with the maintenance of vehicles is preferred. IMSA Work Zone Traffic Control Safety Certification required within one (1) year of successfully completing the initial hire probationary period. IMSA Level I Traffic Signal Certification required within eighteen (18) months of successfully completing the initial hire probationary period. Entry Rate of Pay:
