NSC-High Point Red Shield Youth Center - High Point, NC Recreation Description
This position plans, implements, supervises members and evaluates activities provided within a specific program area, supporting the Red Shield Youth Center priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship. May oversee special programs and/or events (i.e. Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards Programs), and/or participate in the implementation of other unit activities as necessary. In absence of the Program Coordinator, may provide supervision oversight to other Youth Development Professionals to ensure continuity of program services at unit/branch locations. Builds and maintains a professional relationship with all Club members and their families in order to help advance the mission of The Salvation Army. Key responsibilities: Creates an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes Promotes and stimulates program participation. Assists with registration of new members and participates in their club orientation process. Provides guidance and role modeling to members. Monitors and evaluates programs, services, and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the branch at all times. Prepare periodic activity reports. Assists with implementation of outreach efforts to sustain and increase program membership and program participation. Assists in maintaining facility and equipment in good working order. Provides transportation for children to and from school and Community Center Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED Required Previous work in related field with Children and Youth preferred Commitment to actively participate in a Professional Development Plan including Level ll & Level lll Training which includes completion of 20 Credit Hours of Red Shield Youth Spillett Training. Must possess a valid driver's license and a clear driving record. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Manual dexterity. Ability to sit, walk, and stand on a frequent change basis in order to perform the duties of this position. Ability to lift objects weighing between 25-50 lbs. Must be self-directed with ability to tolerate frequent interruptions. Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt ETC.
