Product Design Prototyper
Employer: META PLATFORMS, INC. (f/k/a Facebook, Inc.) Job Location: New York, New York Job Type: Full-time, 9am - 6pm, 40 hours a week, Monday - Friday Salary: $237,356/year to $266,420/year + bonus + equity + benefits. Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Duties
Work on the cutting edge of Virtual and Augmented Reality experiences. Explore, prototype, and build experiences that define the future of how people interact in AR/VR. Join a world-class team experimenting with bold ideas in areas including optics, haptics, tracking, displays, computer vision, user experience, audio, and perceptual psychology. Work alongside expert Scientists, Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Software Engineers to create the technology that makes AR/VR pervasive and universal. Define and synthesize user requirements. Help establish design processes to align cross-functional teams. Contribute to strategic decisions, working with engineering and research teams. Design and create user experience prototypes and individually contribute to the feature set. Work with user research to user test and iterate on the prototypes. Give and solicit feedback from others to raise the quality and craftsmanship of the product. Partner with PMs, engineers, researchers, and content designers, overseeing the implementation of the user experience. Requirements
Master's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, Design Research, or a closely related field, and 5 years of experience in a design prototyping or interaction design role focused on AR/VR or wearable computing technologies. Requires 4 years of experience in the following skills: Building interactive AR/VR prototypes in Unity using C#; Rapid prototyping using real-time engines or game development platforms; Creating high-fidelity visual and interactive design prototypes; Leading cross-functional multidisciplinary teams and demonstrating design leadership; Conducting and integrating findings from user research (qualitative and quantitative); Applying interaction design principles with expertise in HMI/HCI; Prototyping cross-device user experiences, including interactions across wearable, mobile, and desktop platforms; Integrating AI-driven features (e.g., natural language, voice, or gesture AI systems) into user interfaces; Implementing multi-device, real-time interactive prototypes using networking frameworks (e.g., Websockets or equivalent).
