Penn State is searching for a full time Catering Worker A (Altoona) - Grade 9 to join the team. Duties include: Prepare machines for operations; report malfunctions to supervisor; drain and clean machines Clean and wash soiled dishes, glasses, silverware, utensils, and other equipment Remove, stack, store clean dishes in proper areas Clean, burnish and detarnish silver, remove stains from china and glasses, as scheduled Wash, scour, rinse, dry and properly store pots and pans used in kitchen areas Serve food and beverages as required. Wear all uniforms required Operate kitchen equipment such as dish machine, floor scrubbing equipment, carpet cleaning equipment Clean, sweep, mop, wax and buff, strip and seal assigned areas such as floors in kitchens and dining rooms, concession stands, stairs and dock floors, following daily and weekly periodic cleansing schedules Set up buffet areas, meeting rooms following diagrams Use ladders in the cleaning of windows, ceilings, walls and light fixtures, also replace light bulbs, when necessary Clean various locations, such as, kitchen areas, concession stands, offices, restrooms, storage rooms, receiving dock, stairwells, and dining rooms Collect and remove refuse, garbage, etc. , to designated locations Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition Make minor adjustments such as, tightening screws, adjusting belts, replacing cotter keys, screws, etc. Report any malfunctions or damage to equipment, furnishings or facilities to supervisor Assist the storeroom clerk in receiving and storing, issuing and delivering foods and supplies to indicated locations; report discrepancies to storeroom clerk or supervisor Work from directions or requisitions to select and deliver foods and supplies to various preparation centers Clean, process, portion various raw food products Operate university vehicle as required in the performance of assigned duties Job Requirements: Requires the use of simple writing, adding, subtracting, whole numbers and the carrying out of instructions; and the use of fixed gauges and direct reading instruments and devices in which interpretation is not required. Up to and including 3 months of effective experience. Work Schedule: Tuesday - Thursday 11:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m., Friday, Saturday 2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Days Off: Sunday, Monday Qualifications

Minimum Work Experience: Up to 3 months of effective experience Required Certifications: None Background Checks/Clearances: Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
