AECOM is seeking an initiative-taking senior civil/geotechnical engineer with an heavy civil engineering/mining/dams background to be based in the Denver, Colorado office, to support mining waste projects in the planning, analysis and design phases of projects. Job Summary/Responsibilities: Provides project leadership in the areas of design, investigation, analysis, construction and operation of Mine Waste (Tailings) Storage Facilities and multi-disciplinary mining projects Provide direction to and mentoring to other technical staff and serves as technical advisor and reviewer for the project team. Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise. Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others. Performs independent technical reviews of engineering reports and design and signs off on work including quality control review of design calculations, 3D models and drawings. Prepares technical specification sections. Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements. Develops reports in Microsoft Word to communicate the technical results of these calculations or design packages, including summaries, figures, tables, methodologies, and explanations. Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment. Provides engineering guidance and oversight to staff level engineers and designers. Minimum Requirements: BA/BS and 6 yrs of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education Valid U.S. Driver's License Preferred Qualifications: PE Certification; PE in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, or the ability to acquire a PE in these states Master's OR PhD in Civil Engineering or related field of study 8 years or more of relevant experience Demonstrated progressive experience in tailings storage facility design, evaluation (e.g., PSHA analysis, material characterization, liquefaction, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses), construction monitoring and operations. Progressive project experience including task leadership on design and design-bid-build projects. Ability to lead designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, construction specifications, and final working drawings. Work with CAD designers to produce construction-level drawings. Strong written and oral communication, quantitative and people skills Strong work ethic and professional demeanor. Initiative-taking on assignments and demonstrate initiative. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and complete multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines. Perform work in accordance with agreed upon scope, budget, and schedule. Track and manage task budgets and schedules. Author reports and prepare/or direct preparation of detailed calculation packages including proper documentation and references. Must be resourceful, highly organized, professional with attention to detail and people. Sponsorship will be provided for this role. NO relocation will be provided for this role.
